Wisconsin Management Company (WMC) is hiring a full-time Assistant Controller. Job Summary:

Provide leadership and coordination of real estate management contracts through month-end closings. Work with operation in planning, budgeting, reporting, and management functions.   

 

Principal Duties:

  • Assist the Controller and CFO with coordinating and maintaining all accounting systems that follow established accounting policies and procedures and reflect the company's financial position.
  • Ensure accounting policies and procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Prepare, analyze and interpret statistical and accounting information to ensure owners and management are receiving up-to-date and accurate monthly financial statements.
  • Supervise, assist, train, support, and lead the property management staff through a successful monthly and annual accounting cycle.
  • Work closely with the Accounting Manager to ensure the accounting team meets all required deadlines.
  • Monitor the effectiveness and compliance with internal control procedures and take appropriate action.
  • Direct, track, and maintains financial audits, tax preparation, and other external reporting requirements timely.
  • Reviews procedures related to business cycles in the organization to identify opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness of processes and controls.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
  • Maintains monthly statistical reporting on various aspects of operations
  • Reviews all monthly financial statements to ensure consistency by each staff member
  • Ensure all accounting work is meeting or exceeding expectations.
  • Maintains fixed assets and inventory systems
  • Ability to work with all staff levels throughout the organization to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections. Working knowledge of short and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • Knowledge of Yardi and Sage software is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of staff supervision or can demonstrate leadership through various projects.
  • Property management and construction experience are required.
  • Finance or Accounting degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience showing progressive growth in their career
  • Mid-level finance or accounting position and a CPA or CMA required.
  • Work requires a willingness to work extended hours during peak times of the month, budget preparation, and audit seasons.
